Highest honors

Alli was awarded highest honors last night in 4-H. She won a construction achievement award and a style award. Only 4 out of 40 or so where awarded highest honors for achievement of both construction and style. They will have their project displayed in the fair.
Alli....I know how much work you put into your sewing project. Your accurate measuring and careful stitching paid off. All your sighs..... as you pulled out the slightly imperfect seems and carefully resewed them, showed. We are proud of your hard work and determination. Congratulations Alli!!!
Her comments, "I'm already thinking about my project for next year." "Mom I'm proud of my pants." "I worked really hard and so did the other girls. We should all be proud because we learned to sew" "It was so much fun!!!"

Computer virus

I have not been able to blog over the past few weeks. Somehow we got a bug on our computer that was corrupting files and making it difficult to post to the internet. I think I got it fixed. I didn't even have to call Kev the family computer genius. Anyway, I am back up and working for now!!
Ok I thougt I fixed it but was still having problems. Thanks Kev for the tips!!! (yes I had to consult the expert after all)

Robotics competition

Pretty amazing to watch what these young teenagers were able to build. The robots had to pick up inner tubes in different shapes and hook them on hooks at different levels. They scored points if the machines they built worked properly to hang tubes and dispensed micro bots which raced to the top of those poles. It was a pretty exciting to see these very smart kids work together. Lots of physics and engineering coming together.

4-H project

Alli did a great job on her 4-H sewing project. She will have a fashion show next week. She is so excited to be sewing with a real machine. What a great life skill!!

Tyler said, "I am trying to teach Murf to read. Then he would be the smartest dog ever." Well I guess it's worth a try........

Oh I get it

So it's 8:00 a magical time of night for this mom. It is time for bed!! Alli my usually very responsible first born child says, "Mom I forgot I have a math test tomorrow and I'm not sure how to do some of these fractions." So after about 20 minutes of working on subtracting, adding, reducing, simplifying and mutiplying fractions (which I found I was a little rusty at). She still seems confused. So now it is close to 8:30 and I am praying my daughter has some type of revelation so I can watch the rest of Amazing race. Just as I was feeling she would never catch on she looks at me and says,"Oh I get it....you just have to think." Hummmmm Yes that is the secret!!!

All out of socks

Socks... ode to your mysterious ways of disappearing. Especially until just after I have thrown out your match. You reappear solo only to taunt me. The way you warm my feet in the winter almost balances the long nights I spend finding your matches and balling you up....
OK enough of that.
Socks are a struggle to find around here. It isn't that we don't have 100's, it's just such a chore to fold them I find myself putting it off until we are really out. So this morning Erin says Mom I don't have any socks. So I say "I just folded you like 5-6 pair of socks a couple days ago. Where are they all? She says, "Mom it's your fault. You keep making me take showers and then I have to change them." Go figure........
So it was those pesky 3-4 showers a week that used up all the socks.......hmmm that must be it.
